About Us Avante Women’s Centre is a community-based women’s rights organization serving English-speaking women with a feminist approach. We welcome women from all walks of life in the Brome-Missisquoi region and support them in reaching their full potential through educational, informational programs and services geared towards social change.
We are currently seeking a proactive and energetic Director who is passionate about improving living conditions for women and implementing our new, forward-looking 3-year Action Plan. Job Summary Under the authority of the Board of Directors, the Director will be responsible for supervising, overseeing, and evaluating Avante’s programs and activities, as well as managing the Centre’s human resources and finances. We are looking for someone to pick up the torch and run with it.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee action and development plans in alignment with Avante’s mission and mandates.
Supervise and coordinate the implementation of existing programs and policies ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals. - Develop innovative ideas to promote Avante and help it flourish, recognizing it as a reference for women in the community.
- Ensure sound financial management, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Lead fundraising initiatives to secure the financial stability of the Centre.
- Actively contribute to the visibility and reputation of the organization.
- Collaborate with various partners to plan programs and activities.
- Pursue and create new community partnership alliances.
Requirements
- Proven experience in project management and community organization.
- Experience in leading a team and managing human resources.
- Strong background in fundraising and budget management.
- College and university training is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of the community environment and popular education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and intervention skills.
- Proficiency in Office 365 software.
- Access to a car and a driver’s license.
Working Conditions
- 30 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work.
- Salary starting at $34.43 per hour, subject to increase after a 6-month probation period according to the salary scale in place.
- Start date: March 2025.
- 2 weeks paid vacation during the Construction Holidays.
- 2 weeks paid vacation during the Christmas Holidays.
- 10 Health Days a year.
